Why should I train my mental fitness?

Mental fitness is the ability to perform at your best, improve and build resilience.

Just like physical fitness, train regularly & consistently is central to improving.

Mental fitness is the ability to perform at your best, improve and build resilience. It is an ongoing process just like physical fitness. You can measure your level of mental fitness & you can develop your mental muscles.

Why would you want to do that?

The first step of mental fitness is knowing where you are and where you want to be. When someone makes a negative comment towards you, how do you respond? Do you react & lash out or do you feel the emotions & decide on the best course of action to take? When thinking about your ambitions, can you imagine them in great detail?

Without knowing yourself, you’re doomed to be controlled by your impulses. Searching for short-term rewards at the expense of long-term fulfilment. With mental fitness, you are curious and aiming for continuous improvement. You notice your patterns of thought & behaviour and you know what you want in all areas of life.

The next step is to consistently train your mind to work towards your ambitions, grow & overcome adversity. It’s one thing to know yourself, it’s another to act like the person you want to become. Otherwise, you can live your life frustrated that where you are is not where you want to be - feeling lost as to how to change things.

Training your mind rewires your neural pathways, improving how you think, feel and perform. Not only are you developing as a person, you are loving life whilst doing it. You know that you’re strong enough to endure the difficult times and you become fully immersed in the joy of the good times.

Mental fitness is the key to living a life aligned with your values, performing at your best and having fun whilst doing it. It makes the difficult times easier, the great times greater and your day-to-day more enjoyable.

You can’t control everything in life but you can learn to control your mind.
